This autumn Kunstnernes Efterårsudstilling – the Danish Artists’ Autumn Exhibition – moves back to Den Frie Center of Contemporary Art. But the KE presented here will not be the one we know from previous exhibitions. This will be a fresh, new, revitalized KE which, after two years away from home, is not only coming back stronger than ever; it is also returning to a totally new and very close collaboration with Den Frie exhibition space.
The aim of this new collaboration is not only to raise KE to an international standard in everything from planning and execution to media management, but also to consolidate KE’s position as the leading artist-run exhibiting body in Scandinavia. KE’s principle task is to spot and present new art in the best possible fashion. We believe this is achieved through a dedicated focus on three of the art scene’s most distinguished virtues: diversity, quality and transparency.
Diversity and quality are assured by a KE selection committee of the highest calibre – and, not least, by the format of the KE selection process which is as precise as it is wide in scope, with its unique combination of digital representation and physical delivery of works.
Transparency is assured by a whole range of new initiatives – among them the KE dot, the KE film and the forthcoming KE gallery. And, as a completely new innovation, this spring we held the KE11 MASTERCLASS – a weekend event at which all artists had the chance to present their work to the KE11 selection committee. This was a great success. See photos under “MASTERCLASS”.
